Binatbatan Festival
Binatbatan Festival
Viva Vigan Binatbatan
Festival of the Arts celebrated from the last week of April to the first week
of May was originally the Feast of the Natives that began on May 3, 1883,
according to the writings of Damaso King, a well-known Vigan historian. This festival
“Binatbatan” got its name from the Iluko term batbatin, or separating cotton
balls from the seeds of the local fruit tree kapas sanglay.
This said festival lined up activities to celebrate the
event. Bancathon, Fishing Competition, Dog Show, Free Anti Rabies Vaccination,
Kalesa Parade, Traditional Games, Binatbatan Street Dancing. This is to
promote the festival and attract tourist from anywhere which maintains the
popularity of the festival and of course Vigan and its culture.
This is Binatbatan Festival - a fusion of culture, arts, industry
history and heritage under one colorful event.
